Examining the Impacts of the Gutka Bans in Selected Indian States

Gutka is a type of chewing tobacco (made with betel leaf, areca nut, and slaked lime) that is common in India. Surveys were conducted in seven states (Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya, Maharashtra, Orissa and Pradesh) and the National Capital Territory to understand the impacts of Indian state laws that ban the sale and distribution of gutka.
